The Meadow Fork Substation represents one of the largest investments in emergency services in Spring Creek in many years. By taking a phased, fiscally responsible approach, we are building today for the emergency response needs of tomorrow—improving response times, expanding coverage, supporting mutual aid, and ensuring that future generations of volunteers have the facilities they need to serve our community.
The Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department has received a $50,000 grant to help launch the new Meadow Fork Substation. Those funds have been used to purchase the substation building, including its construction. We have also identified and secured a site off Meadow Fork Road and are moving forward with site preparation before winter. The total anticipated investment in the completed project is approximately $173,000.
Our next goal is to raise $50,000 from the community, which we plan to use as matching funds for a North Carolina State Fire Marshal grant opportunity opening January 5, 2027. If we meet that goal and are successful with the matching grant, nearly all of the anticipated project costs will be covered, allowing us to complete this important investment in emergency response with minimal impact on the department’s existing capital reserves. Building the Meadow Fork Substation will be a community effort, and there are several ways individuals, businesses, and community partners can help us bring the new station into service:
Support the Capital Campaign. Make a financial contribution toward our $50,000 fundraising goal, which we hope to use as matching funds for a North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal grant opportunity opening in January 2027.
Contribute Services or Materials. We need grading, concrete, gravel, electrical work, and other infrastructure services. Donated or discounted work and materials can directly reduce the cost of the project. SCVFD can provide appropriate documentation for qualifying contributions.
Donate Equipment. The new station will need equipment including mini-split heating and cooling systems, a generator, and other essential building and operational equipment.
Volunteer Your Time. Join us for one of our upcoming community workdays and be part of building the new station.
Every dollar, donated service, piece of equipment, and volunteer hour gets us closer to putting the Meadow Fork Substation into service—and expanding emergency response for the Spring Creek community.
